Impact and Assessment Analyst

The Organization

We do this by providing an average of over $33 million in community grants and scholarships each year, thanks to the generous support of thousands of donors. As the largest non-governmental funder of the charitable sector in our City, ECF is in a unique position to address long-term, complex community needs by working with donors, charities, volunteers, government and community partners.
The Opportunity
The Impact and Assessment Analyst plays a key role in analyzing and evaluating ECF’s projects and programs, fostering a culture of impact measurement and data-driven decision-making, and supporting sector-wide practices that drive greater social impact. Reporting to the Manager, Impact Assessment, this position is responsible for internal data management, analysis, and reporting, supporting the evaluation of grants and grant processes, and fostering sector-wide data and evaluation best practices.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Internal Data Management and Analysis:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of data management systems and processes that capture key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress towards strategic plan objectives.
- Use advanced data analysis and visualization tools to create dynamic dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to support organizational decision-making.
- Collaborate across ECF teams to establish data collection and assessment processes to ensure data integrity, consistency, and alignment with organizational goals, and create tools that allow departments to monitor their own metrics.
- Support the identification and integration of new data sources, systems, and tools to enhance ECF’s capacity for impact measurement.
- Contribute to additional internal research, impact assessment, and evaluation projects as needed.
Research and Impact Reporting:
- Conduct research on emerging trends, community needs, and innovative practices in philanthropy, impact measurement, and evaluation.
- Support the preparation of reports, case studies, and presentations that showcase the impact of ECF’s work to stakeholders, including donors, board members, and community partners.
- Assist in the development of storytelling strategies that communicate the effectiveness of funded initiatives using data-driven narratives.
- Support the development of annual reports, including analyzing and summarizing key data insights.
- Participate in and support collaborative projects and initiatives with external partners and agencies.
Evaluation Methodology and Support:
- Work with internal teams to develop, implement, review, and optimize grant assessment processes, evaluating their alignment with organizational priorities and impact potential.
- Support the development of rubrics and methodologies that guide decision-making processes within ECF.
- Work closely with grantees to strengthen their capacity in program evaluation and impact assessment, providing guidance and resources to enhance data-driven practices and maximize the success of funded initiatives.
Assist in the design and implementation of frameworks that help ECF and its partners better understand the long-term impacts of their funding.
The Ideal Candidate
As the ideal candidate, you will possess the following qualifications:
- A university degree in data science, statistics, science, math, business analytics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an asset.
- A minimum of 4 years directly related work experience in data management, data analysis, evaluation, and impact assessment, preferably in the non-profit, philanthropic sector or public sector; equivalent combinations of related post-secondary education and directly related work experience will be considered.
- Thorough understanding of the principles and practice of research and assessment including statistical analysis, database creation and management, survey design, and other forms of research, assessment and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in both quantitative and qualitative impact assessment and program evaluation methodologies.
Additional requirements include:
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, PowerBI, Salesforce, or Tableau.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including a demonstrated aptitude in communicating research, impact assessment, and evaluation findings to diverse audiences.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- High degree of initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently with little supervision.
- Strong commitment to continual learning, particularly related to the areas of data management and analysis, program evaluation, and impact assessment as well as in subject-specific areas relevant to ECF’s focus areas.

What we Offer

- Salary Range: $64,000 – $83,000/yr
- A 35-hour standard work week.
- Downtown work location with free parking available.

- A hybrid work environment where employees collaborate on site a minimum of 3 days per week with the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
