The Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters (ACWS) is the unified voice of domestic violence shelters across Alberta. A registered charity with over 40 years of experience, we support 41 member organizations operating more than 50 shelters for women, children, seniors, and others facing abuse.
ACWS exists to strengthen and support the vital work of our members. We provide frontline training, conduct province-wide research, amplify survivor-centred advocacy, and lead collaborative prevention efforts. Together, we are more than shelters: we are a movement for safety, justice, and change.
Domestic violence an everyone problem and needs an everyone solution. Through collective action, we are challenging the systems and social norms that perpetuate abuse. With every shelter we support and every policy we help shape, we’re building a future where safety is a right, not a privilege.
That’s why we’ve established the ACWS Endowment Fund — to ensure we can continue this vital work for generations to come. Contributions to our endowment fund help provide long-term, stable funding that supports our core operations and ensures we can fully deliver on our mission.
By supporting the ACWS Endowment Fund, you are investing in a future where domestic violence no longer has a place in our communities. Your gift helps build a sustainable foundation for shelter services, advocacy, and systemic change — ensuring that our collective vision of a world free from violence and abuse remains not just a hope, but a real and lasting possibility.
