Beaverhill Bird Observatory Endowment Fund

Established in 1984, the Beaverhill Bird Observatory (BBO) is the second oldest bird migration monitoring observatory in Canada. Our long-term data tracks changes in migratory bird populations, the breeding success and survivorship of local breeding birds, and Northern-Saw-whet Owl movements.  Our hands on work with birds also provides the perfect opportunity to engage the public in activities that foster knowledge and appreciation of birds and natural history in Alberta.

Situated near Beaverhill Lake (an IBA and RAMSAR site) the BBO acts as a steward for the Beaverhill Natural Area. Other activities we conduct within this bird rich area include monitoring Tree Swallow grids, Young Ornithologist Workshops, BirdSmart Education Outreach Programs and more. Please visit www.beaverhillbirds.com for more information.

BBO mainly relies on Grants, Casinos and Donations to continue the work we do. None of which can be counted on from year to year. Our intention, by creating this Endowment Fund with the Edmonton Community Foundation is to eventually provide lifelong support to our organization.
