The BBMA endowment provides awards so that Métis Albertans demonstrating financial need, commitment, and a desire to be gainfully employed can realize self-sufficient through the advancement of their post-secondary education and skills development.
Awards are intended to assist recipients with essential costs such as tuition, fees, and sometime textbooks and supplies. Each year approximately 140 awards are approved by the BBMA Panel, most awards range between $1,000 and $10,000. Since 2002, the Fund has provided awards totalling over 6.7 million to more than 1100 Métis students.
