Boisvert’s GreenWoods Conservation Land is stewarded by the Edmonton and Area Land Trust (EALT), a registered charity that conserves nature in Edmonton and area and engages people and communities in land conservation and stewardship. This 80-acre land is located in Sturgeon County near Manawan Lake, an Important Bird Area. The natural area is a large stand of old-growth deciduous forest, dominated by trembling aspens and balsam poplar. Donated to EALT by the Biosvert family, this undisturbed forest stand serves as an important stepping stone for wildlife in a largely agricultural landscape. It provides important habitat for wildlife in the area, including moose, deer, pileated woodpeckers, and a wide variety of songbirds. With the support of this endowment fund, EALT has been able to accomplish many stewardship activities at Boisvert, including maintaining trails, installing signage, maintaining bird and bat boxes, bat monitoring, and managing invasive plants. Your donation to the Boisvert’s GreenWoods Endowment Fund will help the Edmonton and Area Land Trust continue to steward this land in perpetuity.
