“The intent and purpose of the Fund is to assist Students to pursue post-secondary education and research in the Edmonton area, giving highest priority to Students with permanent disabilities” This Award honours the memory of Brenda J. Moore by providing financial support to students with disabilities pursuing post-secondary education at MacEwan University in a certificate, diploma or degree program. As the scholarship fund grows, scholarships will be expanded to include other post-secondary institutions. Brenda J. Moore (1955-2015) Dip., BEd., was a graduate of the Social Work program (’75), and a proud Edmontonian who became disabled as a young child with spinal muscular atrophy. In addition to her determination to live as independently as possible, Brenda was a social worker, educator, administrator and advocate. Brenda was the originating coordinator of Services to Students with Disabilities at MacEwan University (1982-1992), and Access to Students with Disabilities at Athabasca University (1998-2015), where she assisted innumerable students with disabilities to achieve their educational goals over a career spanning 40 years. Brenda was a dear family member and friend. She was a 35+ year Edmonton Eskimos season ticket holder, and had a love of travel, especially Hawaii, interior design and her beloved dogs Jazzy, Cami, and Inky.
