Civida Housing Foundation Fund

It’s no secret that we’re facing an affordable housing crisis — across Canada, and here in Edmonton — heightened by the steep increase in the cost of living over the last few years. More people need help keeping a roof over their head.

In Edmonton now, 1 out of every 4 renter households are in Core Housing Need. That means they’re paying more than they can afford to for housing, or they live in unsafe or unfit conditions and can’t afford to move. That number will grow from 32,500 to more than 40,000 rental households by 2031.

Marginalized groups feel housing need more keenly — especially people of colour, female single parents, and households with disabilities or physical health needs.

Stable housing helps to disrupt cycles of poverty. It also boosts residents’ community engagement, safety, opportunities, educational resources, and social networks. People feel empowered to improve their lives and to help others.

The Civida Housing Foundation raises funds to help tenants thrive – turning a house into a home. As people find stability and success and move through the housing continuum, they free up more spaces for others to find an affordable home.

With your help, the Civida Housing Foundation (CHF) funds tools to help tenants improve their circumstances — through better support networks, community education, employment supports, or life skills. The CHF is seeking to raise funds to help more people find homes and live well.

Will you help more people move forward on their life journey? Will you help more people find a house, and turn it into a home?

Our endowment funds support emerging and priority needs in the greater Edmonton community, now and for generations to come. Donate to a fund
