One woman, empowering a community of women Shawna J. Serniak, a strong Indigenous woman who started working with the Edmonton Community Foundation in making a dream of hers become a reality. In 2017 the charity called Every Woman Empowered Endowment Fund was created and managed by the Edmonton Community Foundation. The focus of the E.W.E.E.F is to raising money and to bring awareness to Canada’s Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls. Shawna is passionate about this cause and wants to put a stop to the injustice of her people and to honor those who are no longer with us. The importance of educating, honoring, assisting, and searching is the key to this endowment fund. By donating to this fund, you are making a difference in creating a positive future for our Indigenous people and the 7 generations to come.
