I have been an avid gardener for the past several years. I started gardening as a therapeutic way to help alleviate some of my mental health stress. Unfortunately, I have struggled with anxiety for most of my life, however, the act of nurturing plants has been a healthy approach for me to put my energy into something productive and meaningful, which has brought balance and routine into my lifestyle. As my love for gardening grew, I found that I could better manage and cope with my mental health over time. The biggest reason why I wanted to start my business was that I wanted to find a way to help others struggling with their mental health as I once was and to foster support for individuals mentally, physically, and spiritually. My main goal is to make a positive impact in somebodies’ life, and as a motivated, dedicated, resilient young woman, I strongly believe that this is something I will achieve. I was also given the wonderful opportunity to connect with the “Edmonton Community Foundation” to determine an innovative long-term approach to strengthen my cause. As a result, the “Golden Botanical Fund for Growth” was created. A percentage of the annual earnings received will be donated to achieve the goal of providing funding for accessible Mental Health Services Nationwide. Mental illness is an issue that affects 1 in 5 (approximately 6.7 million) Canadians annually, with your support, we can make a difference. I invite you all on a journey where together as a society, we can grow with nature. Stay golden. -S.
