Muriel Cheriton was a life-long Edmontonian, a graduate of the University of Alberta as a Professional Engineer in 1946. Ross Cheriton was also a Professional Engineer, owning and running several engineering, consulting and construction firms in Edmonton. Together, they raised six children in that city and were founders and leaders in numerous Edmonton community organizations.
The Ross and Muriel Cheriton Fund is intended to enhance the quality of life of those in the greater Edmonton area, particularly those in difficult circumstances, such as poverty, homelessness, violence or illness. The Fund pays specific attention to patient care, supports and research on medical illnesses with a priority to Parkinson’s Disease. The Fund was established with major donations by Ross & Muriel, and is designed to be a perpetual fund, with net income disbursed to charitable activities detailed above.
Family and friends of Ross and Muriel Cheriton have enhanced this permanently endowed fund at the Edmonton Community Foundation. Additional contributions are very welcome. Donations to the fund receive a receipt for tax purposes.
