We are proud to be a trusted partner for empowering charities, businesses, and the broader community to create lasting solutions. In 2024, Boyle Street Community Services and EPCOR established an endowment fund with ECF to support the long-term maintenance of the new King Thunderbird Centre in downtown Edmonton. ECF contributed an initial $100,000 in matching funds and EPCOR further amplified community impact by committing $375,000 through its Heart + Soul program, matching donations from the public to the endowment campaign. All together, the fund now sits at more than $960,000.
Our collaboration ensures that vulnerable Edmontonians receive critical services with dignity when they need it most. This includes access to social workers, occupational therapists, nurses and 38 units of affordable housing on site.
Rebranding for a stronger future Guided by input from donors, grantees, community partners, and staff, we revitalized ECF’s purpose, mission, vision, and values in 2024 — each one reinforcing our commitment to building a city where everybody can thrive. This clarity of purpose and deeper alignment with the communities we serve informed our bold new look. We want Edmontonians to see themselves in ECF. Our new website and simplified URL, ecf.ca, make it easier to connect with our work and the causes you care about.
Building capacity for greater impact In 2024, we grew across multiple departments, welcoming new team members who share our commitment to community- building. Added roles in community impact allow us to move the needle on complex issues and measure outcomes, while a new equity advancement position supports our vision for a more inclusive city. We also strengthened our student awards, philanthropy, and communications teams. Our increased capacity ensures ECF remains a trusted partner for all community builders — we think big, listen deeply, and lead with purpose.
