Edmonton Community Foundation is looking for volunteers for our ECF Awards & Bursaries Panel!
ECF Awards & Bursaries assist post-secondary students from Edmonton and/or northern Alberta with financial need who have a history of community involvement or leadership. Awards generally range from $1,000 to $6,000.
Volunteers play a key role in our granting work. The ECF Awards & Bursaries Panel reviews student award applications and provides recommendations to ECF.
Volunteers can be reimbursed for expenses related to being on a panel, such as childcare or transportation.
Applications are due March 9, 2020.
Commitment:
- Review approximately 50 applications between mid-May and mid-June (approximately 15 hours work).
- Meet with other panel members to make award recommendations. Meetings may occur during or after business hours, depending on when panel members are available.
- An understanding that not all applications can be approved. While declining a request can be difficult, it is a key role of the panel.
Candidates:
We are seeking 4 new members in 2020. Members are appointed for a three-year term, which may be renewed once (maximum six years). Understanding of the post-secondary education system is an asset.
In order to better serve communities, we are seeking to appoint diverse and balanced panels that reflect the diversity of the greater Edmonton Area. We encourage applications from Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of linguistic, ethnic, sexual and gender, and other minority communities.
How to Apply:
Send a cover letter and resume by email to studentawards@ecfoundation.org. Your application should clearly demonstrate how you could contribute to the work of the panel.
Contact studentawards@ecfoundation.org with questions.
Applications are due March 9, 2020.
