Podcasts

On this episode of The Well Endowed Podcast, we follow Pride vs. Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story as it makes its European premiere at the Poland LGBT+ Film Festival.

Pride vs. Prejudice is a feature length documentary produced by Edmonton Community Foundation and the Edmonton Queer history Project. The award-winning film tells the story of Canada’s first successful Supreme Court ruling on gay rights.

Director Darrin Hagen and producer Andrew Paul take us behind the scenes of the international screening tour, which was organized at the invitation of the Canadian embassy. Along the way, they connect with local activists, students, and diplomats working to advance 2SLGBTQI+ rights in Poland.

We visit the Canadian Embassy, meet with leaders from LAMBDA Warsaw and the Polish Queer Museum, and talk with Poland’s first openly transgender MP, Anna Grodzka. The team also joins university students and grassroots groups who are fighting for equality in the face of growing political tension.

The journey offered a firsthand look at how Queer communities around the world are pushing for progress.
