For over 40 years Gillian Horwitz z”l held numerous leadership roles within the Edmonton Jewish community including presidencies, event chairs and MC duties. When Gillian spoke, people listened.
In consideration of Gillian’s outstanding contributions to the community and to honour her memory, the Entry Hall to the future home of the Jewish Heritage and Holocaust Centre at the new Oshry | Kipnes Jewish Community Centre has been chosen to be dedicated to her memory.
The Jewish Heritage and Holocaust Centre (JHHC) is in the early planning phase and down the line will become a key feature of the Oshry | Kipnes JCC. Please note that it is being completed on a different timeline than the rest of the centre—likely a year or more later. Temporary signage will be in place to indicate where the permanent space honouring Gillian will be. Permanent signage will be in place once the JHHC is completed.
We invite you to contribute to this fund in honour of Gillian’s generosity of time and spirit to the community. The fund will support the operations of the Oshry | Kipnes JCC in perpetuity.
