McKenC Fund was created to help women who are interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs.
Two of our three children – Michelle (Mic), Kenneth (Ken) and Christine (C) – are involved in STEM fields while the third worked in a field highly dominated by males. Our daughters often found it difficult to be accepted as competent and serious about their job choices because they weren’t conventional choices for women.
We believe that having more women learning and working in any area of STEM will make it easier for all women involved in male-dominated fields.
The funds from this bursary will enable more women to fulfill their dream of working in areas they might have thought were not open to them by paying for tuition, supplies, housing, utilities, child care or whatever expenses they need covered.
We hope that receiving a bursary from McKenC will give the recipient not only a financial boost but also make them feel supported and encouraged in their decision to pursue a livelihood in any STEM field.
