Pipestone Creek Conservation Land is stewarded by the Edmonton and Area Land Trust (EALT), a registered charity that conserves nature in Edmonton and area and engages people and communities in land conservation and stewardship. This 104-acre natural area is located near Coal Lake in Wetaskiwin County. The land borders Pipestone Creek, an important habitat corridor for wildlife. It is home to a variety of species, including deer, Great Blue Herons, Cedar Waxwings, Hermit Thrush, and many other songbirds and small mammals. Its dry grassland slopes feature plants that are not commonly found this far north in Alberta. The natural area also contains other vegetation community types including spruce woodlands and aspen parkland. With the support of this endowment fund, EALT has been able to accomplish many stewardship activities, such as planting tree saplings, installing bird and bat boxes, removing black knot, and using goats to target browse invasive plants on the steep slopes and between saplings. Your donation to the Pipestone Creek Stewardship Endowment Fund will help the Edmonton and Area Land Trust continue to steward this land in perpetuity.
