Join Monelle, Michele Okere and Yasmin Jivraj as they delve into effective strategies for making positive change, communicating effectively with Boards and what enables women to bring unique leadership styles to the table.
About the Panelists:
Monelle Sturko is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Community Foundation. As well as the Chair of the Governance Committee and a board member of the Social Enterprise Fund. Monelle is also a litigator at the law firm of DDC Lawyers and the Past President of the Edmonton Bar Association and the Chair of the Insurance North Section for the Canadian Bar Association.
Michelle Okere is a dedicated Métis-Cree professional with more than a decade of experience leading the growth of provincial, regional, and national organizations. This includes (to name just a few) being the Founder & Principal of Okere & Associates, and co-founder of the REET Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing equity and diversity in commercial real estate. She also serves as the Chair of the Truth & Reconciliation Committee for the YWCA Edmonton, and is a Chair at PolicyWise for Children & Families.
Yasmin Jivraj is the current Chair of the Board of Governors at NAIT and a board member at Alberta Blue Cross and Alberta Foundation of the Arts. Yasmin has received several honors, including bring inducted into the Business Hall of Fame of Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta, Alberta’s Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee medal, NAIT Honorary Bachelor of Technology degree, University of Alberta Alumni award, and Fellow Member by the Canadian Information Processing Society, recognizing her significant contributions to the Information Technology industry and to the community in Canada and beyond.
