Our family has been attending Fringe since the 1980s (or the 1990s, in our daughter Kaytlyn’s case!), returning year after year to experience the vibrancy, joy, and community of our favourite Edmonton festival. Like so many Edmontonians, we were drawn in by the performances, the atmosphere, and the excitement that anything could happen!
In 2013, Kaytlyn decided to experience Fringe from a different perspective and signed up as a volunteer. It didn’t take long to discover that the magic of Fringe is made possible by hundreds of dedicated volunteers who generously give their time, energy, and enthusiasm to create an incredible experience for artists and audiences alike. Before long, Tammy joined the volunteer team too!
Over the years, volunteering has become one of our favourite parts of Fringe. We’ve met amazing people, shared many laughs, and witnessed firsthand the dedication and passion that volunteers bring to this incredible 11-day festival. Volunteers are the heart of Fringe, and simply put, without volunteers there is no Fringe.
As long-time Fringers and volunteers, we wanted to create an opportunity for everyone to support the people at the heart of the festival and help sustain Fringe for generations to come. Through the Beakhouse Fringe Volunteer Appreciation Fund, donations are invested to ensure volunteers continue to be supported, recognized and celebrated long into the future.

Together, we can celebrate today’s volunteers while helping future generations experience the same sense of belonging, community, and joy that Fringe has brought to our families for decades.
