Sustainability & Innovation Scholarship Fund

Students selected for the Sustainability & Innovation Scholarship Awards should meet the following Criteria:

 

Hilltop Awards and Bursaries Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for an Award a student must:

  • be pursuing studies in Alberta in the upcoming school year;
  • be living in Alberta;
  • be a resident of Alberta for at least 1 year; and
  • demonstrate:
    • financial need to pursue the desired course of education:
    • community involvement in a role with responsibilities (as a volunteer, an artist, on a sports team, etc.); and
    • a desire to apply learning to working in and improving Alberta.

 

Additional Criteria for the Sustainability & Innovation Scholarship Awards includes:

Academic Enrollment

Be enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in architecture, engineering, construction management, building science, urban planning, sustainability, or a related discipline in an Alberta post-secondary.

Academic Standing

Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent.

Area of Focus

Demonstrate a clear academic and/or professional focus on one or more of the following:

▪High-performance and net-zero energy building design

▪Indoor environmental quality and occupant health

▪Sustainable materials and construction methods

▪Building performance analytics and energy modeling

▪Renewable energy integration in buildings

▪Post-occupancy evaluation and operational efficiency

Leadership and Engagement

Exhibit leadership or active participation in student organizations, community projects, research, or internships related to sustainable or healthy building practices.
