Mathieu Lefevre Memorial Fund

Our goal is to remember and honour our son, brother and friend by providing an opportunity to support and encourage emerging artists.

Mathieu obtained a B.A. in political science from Laval University, Quebec, and a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) at the University du Quebec a Montreal (UQAM). During his brief career as an artist, he had numerous solo exhibitions in Canada, notably in Angell Gallery, Toronto, and Galerie Division, Montreal, as well as in the United States and Europe. Mathieu represented Canada at the Biennale in Prague, Czech Republic. His work was also extensively in group exhibitions.

His paintings and sculptures have been shown posthumously in several exhibitions: Regina Rex Gallery in New York, Arsenal Gallery in Montreal, UQAM Gallery in Montreal, PAVA Gallery in Edmonton and in the 2015 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art.

A gifted artist, Mathieu Lefevre used humour and derision to question the conventions and systems that govern society, particularly the art world. He was recognized by the contemporary art community as one of the most promising emerging artists in Canada.
