25 Years of the Belcourt Brosseau Métis Awards (BBMA)

In 2001, Orval Belcourt, Dr. Herb Belcourt and Georges Brosseau established the BBMAs with an initial $13-million endowment at Edmonton Community Foundation. Today, that endowment has grown to $24.5 million and has provided more than $13 million through nearly 3,900 student awards.
But the BBMA legacy is about more than financial support. Former recipients are now community leaders, mentors and contributors — and the children of some former recipients are becoming BBMA recipients themselves. That is intergenerational success in action.
